Job Description

Our servers represent the Rio through genuine, conscientious, unique, and diligent service.  Their primary duties include:

  • Present a cool and fun atmosphere for our customers craving the legendary margaritas and delicious Tex-Mex food.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance.
  • Greet tables in a warm and timely manner.
  • Be accurate, complete, and professional when taking food and drink orders.
  • Have a comprehensive knowledge of menu offerings.
  • Keep well-manicured tables.
  • Be attentive to all customers' needs.
  • Be accurate with money and tabs.
  • Use responsible alcohol service training conscientiously.
  • Show appreciation for our guests throughout their Rio experience.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to read customers and deliver what they want. 
  • Ability to monitor each customer's alcohol consumption and be highly aware of over-serving our guests.  Every server must be able to refuse alcohol service to customers in a polite and effective manner.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • The Rio strictly forbids the service of alcohol to minors.  All servers must be able to card our guests, identify fake IDs, calculate ages based on dates of birth, and adhere to all of our rules for responsible alcohol service.
  • Ability to work in a very fast-paced environment, be highly adaptable, and multi-task well.
  • Must be TIPS certified and Aloha proficient.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to move throughout the restaurant for extended periods of time (up to 10-12 hours per day).
  • Must be able to carry 50 lbs for distances of up to 10 ft.
  • Must be able to balance and move up to 25 lbs for distances of up to 50 ft.
  • Must be able to understand and respond to co-workers' and guests' requests in a loud environment.
  • Must be able to visually recognize proper food presentations and food quality.
